It’s been an amazing spring and summer thus far for THE GUYS NEXT DOOR. Since our successful world premiere at the Sarasota Film Festival in April (several sold-out screenings, runner up out of 174 films for the audience award), we’ve had two sold-out screenings at the Maryland Film Festival and at the Provincetown International Film Festival, and over 800 people in attendance at the Independent Film Festival of Boston. It’s been thrilling to see how audiences embrace this film!

Happy One Year Anniversary!

One year ago today The Guys Next Door reached its Kickstarter goal!
Since then, we have been able to finish editing film, and we have begun our festival tour.  Audiences are finally getting to meet this family !

NEXT UP: The Independent Film Festival of Boston!

Join Allie and Amy and the cast of THE GUYS NEXT DOOR for its New England premiere at the prestigious Independent Film Festival of Boston!

Sarasota Film Festival Success: Thank you to everyone who came out for our world premiere at the Sarasota Film Festival. We sold out theaters and the film was incredibly well received by audiences. One person said, “This should have been the opening night film!” It was such a success that the Sarasota Film Festival added a third screening! And the film was one of 2 finalists for an audience award out of over 174 films!

THANK YOU!

April 9, 2015 – When we launched our Kickstarter campaign 35 days ago, we had no idea how many people would respond to our film and to our request for help to finish THE GUYS NEXT DOOR. We have been blown away by the outpouring of support. 478 people donated, many of whom were also ambassadors for the film – talking to family and friends, tweeting and posting on Facebook.

Here are the many ways you helped to make our dreams come true!

★ You pushed us past our first goal of $60K in just two weeks!

★ You helped us receive a major matching donation of $10K that put us well on our way to our first stretch goal.

★ And that major match put us well on our way to our first stretch goal.

★ You funded that stretch goal! So now we can fund an original score.

★ You inspired another generous couple to do a $2,500 match in the last 2 days.

★ You unlocked the final 48-hour match donation and now we can fund an Italian translator!

★ You continued inspiring us with your enthusiasm and your words of support.

“So thrilled to be able to support this fabulous documentary…I hope the world gets to see it.” “It is my pleasure to support this significant and inspiring project.” “The Guys Next Door shows how the beauty, strength and power of one woman can truly change the lives of family, friendship and history!”

Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2015!

January 23, 2015 – Thanks to you, our generous supporters, as well as several foundations, we’ve been able to finish shooting the film, and have started to assemble an early rough cut. In September, we were invited to New York City to pitch the film at IFP’s Independent Film Week, a prestigious event that brings the industry together to promote and support new and exciting work. Several broadcasters, distributors, and festival programmers were very interested in our film and asked to look at the next cut! As we begin 2015, we are continuing our fundraising efforts so we can complete the next edit. We will be applying for new grants, hosting house parties, and organizing a crowdfunding campaign that will launch in March. This fundraising will help us bring back our editor extraordinaire, Rachel Clark. We plan to spend the late spring and summer working with Rachel to finish editing the film. Then, we’ll submit to festivals for 2016 and share the film with interested broadcasters and with all of you!

The flowers are in bloom and so is our film!

April 16, 2014 – Through the generous support of several foundations and many of you, we have completed principal photography, transcribed over 15 hours of interviews, including several in Italian, built a website, and started the editing process. In late January, we hired the remarkable Rachel Clark whose editing credits include the Emmy-Award winning “Have You Seen Andy?”, the Sundance Film Festival hit “Family Affair” and “The Amish Shunned” for PBS’s American Experience. Together we’ve been working on the story structure, developing our characters and laying out a rough cut of the movie, which we hope to have sometime this summer.

We’ve reached our goal!

August 5, 2013 – We made it! Actually, we surpassed our goal of $15,000 and raised over $18,000. This means that we’ll receive the matching donation. We are so touched by all of the support and encouragement we have received. And, we’re excited to begin editing.
